The Feilding and District Art Society
(FADAS) came into being as a non-profit incorporated society with the
intention of opening an art gallery for the display and sale of member's
work. After weeks of work by willing volunteers, the Feilding and District Art Centre open in October 2003.
In April 2005 FADAS successfully ran the inaugural FADAS Art Awards exhibition, attracting entries from the greater Manawatu area and the Art Awards have been held annually since.
In August 2005 the members of the 36-year-old Feilding Arts Club joined FADAS.
An Annual FADAS Members exhibition is held to take the place of the former Feilding Arts Club exhibition.
FADAS displays examples of Feilding High Schools Wearable Art entries and other senior student art in the Art Centre each year, also local primary school art works.
Volunteers continue to manage and 'man' the Feilding and District Art Centre at
35 Kimbolton Road, Feilding.
